2 School Employees Investigated for Inappropriate Relationship with Students

The Athletic Director at West Fork has been put on administrative leave for the remainder of the year for inappropriate behavior with a student, according to the Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier. Alex Brayton was the AD, Director of the Wellness Center, the head boys track and field coach, and an assistant football coach. In a letter to families obtained by the Globe Gazette, Brayton admitted to texting a high school student about their attractiveness. Brayton says he welcomes the investigation to confirm that no further misconduct occurred. He says he will reevaluate himself and make changes that prioritize his family and those that love him. Brayton is a 2009 graduate of West Fork and became AD in 2019.

A Riceville teacher has been placed on administrative leave while an investigation into alleged inappropriate behavior can be conducted, according to the Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier. Very few details about the investigation have been released to this point but Superintendent Barb Schwamann put out a statement saying the high school teacher in question was put on leave the same day the district received the allegations. Schwamann also apologized for any axiety this may have caused and that Riceville High School is full of great staff members who work hard to protect and educate kids every day.
