A 19 year old inmate in the Buchanan County Jail has committed suicide, according to the Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier. Jaden Johnson of West Union was found unresponsive in his cell around 2:35 Sunday morning. Correctional officers immediately called for help and initiated CPR. Emergency rescue crews arrived on scene to continue lifesaving measures but Johnson was pronounced dead at the scene. The preliminary cause of death is by asphyxiation via suicide. The incident remains under investigation at this time. Johnson was in jail after allegedly stealing a 2008 Chevrolet Malibu from Larson Construction Company in Independence on April 5th.
