Softball Team Forced to Vacate Wins & NICL Title

The Waterloo Columbus Softball Team has been forced to vacate wins from the month of June and the NICL Central Championship. The school district contacted the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union about an infraction involving the Scholarship Rule. An ineligible player appears to be used in those games in June. Now former Head Coach Chris Olmstead released this statement, “I want to make it unequivocally clear that I, nor my coaching staff, were informed by administration that a violation had occurred. In fact, I only first found out Thursday night via a third party rival coaching friend who contacted me to show support.” Principal Tony Harrington says he will ensure that these types of errors do not occur in the future.
