One person has died in a fire in Cedar Falls. On Friday around 3:00 p.m. Fire Rescue crews were called to an apartment building at 3112 Boulder Drive. There they found heavy black smoke coming from an apartment on the third floor. Firefighters found 67 year old Douglas Fairbank unresponsive in the apartment. He was taken to the hospital but died there. An autopsy has been ordered to determine the cause of death. The apartment building sustained smoke, fire and water damage. The Red Cross was called in to assist with housing options. The cause of the fire is undetermined.
