A fire has destroyed one of the oldest restaurants in Waterloo, according to KWWL. Fire crews were called to the Hickory House on Park Road around 9am Sunday. Witnesses said that a car hit the building’s meter and drove away from the scene. An explosion injured one firefighter, but he stayed on scene and continued to battle the blaze. The building has been deemed a total loss. The restaurant is owned by the Chilcote’s. They say they have not yet decided what they will do next, but they do hope to rebuild.
