Teen Going to Prison After Going to Police Station to Get Phone He Left at Crime Scene

A Cedar Falls teenager will go to prison after he left his phone at the scene of a botched drug deal that ended in a shooting in February, according to the Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier. 18 year old Shawntelly Johnson Jr. was sentenced to up to 10 years in prison on charges of Intimidation with a Weapon and Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Deliver. Police say the victim in the shooting got into a vehicle with Johnson in order to conduct a drug deal. The victim attempted to pay with two fake $100 bills. When confronted the victim fled the vehicle and got into his own and drove away. Police believe Johnson shot at the victims car several times. The victim was uninjured. In the process Johnson dropped his phone at the scene. When he showed up at the police station to retrieve it he was arrested and charged as an adult despite being just 17 when the incident happened. Johnson’s sentenced will run concurrent with other sentences for drug and assault charges.
