Waterloo Man Going to Prison

A Waterloo man, whose gun was discharged when he was tased in 2021, has been sentenced to prison time, according to the Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier. 33 year old Gerald Wright sexually abused an acquaintance on September 26th of 2021. During the incident he also threatened the woman with a gun and bit her. She was able to escape and notify police. When police made contact Wright refused to take his hands out of his pockets and was tased. The taser discharged the gun Wright was holding. There were no injuries. Wright was charged with third degree Sexual Abuse, Assault, Assault on a Police Officer, Intimidation with a Weapon, Interference While Armed and Felon in Possession of a Firearm. He was sentenced to 26 years in prison and must serve five before becoming eligible for parole. He will then have to register as a sex offender.
