Waverly Shell Rock Community Schools has submitted a request to increase their spending authority from the state’s School Budget Review Committee, according to the Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier. The school has asked to boost their spending authority by more than $219,000 because of a 29.6 increase in pupils in its certified enrollment this fall. They also requested a boost of more than $20,000 for serving English language learners beyond the five year period the district receives increased funding to provide those services. The school board also approved a request to use more than $13,000 for special education administrative costs associated with the Lied Center Consortium.
