Robbery Conviction

A Davenport man has been convicted of robbing a Waterloo store at gunpoint during the COVID-19 pandemic, according to the Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier. Surveillance video shows 27 year old Diontay Cobbs walk into Ali’s Corner on September 29th of 2020 with a mask over his face. He then lowers the mask as he flashes a gun and demands money. He got away with $500 in cash, two bottles of liquor and a pack of cigars. The lowering of his mask allowed for him to be quickly identified, however. Cobbs was found guilty of first degree Robbery. He also was convicted of Using a Minor to Commit a Crime as he employed three teenagers to wait in his getaway vehicle. Cobbs was also convicted of Flight to Avoid Prosecution after fleeing to Arizona. He will be sentenced at a later date.
