Firefighters in Cedar Falls responded to an apparent car explosion that spread to a house Tuesday afternoon, according to KWWL. Crews were called to 309 West 6th Street around 2:15 p.m. When they arrived on scene they found a car fully engulfed in flames and heavy smoke and flames coming from the first and second story windows. There were three people and three pets at home at the time of the fire. A minor on the main floor heard the fire alarm and was able to escape with the two dogs and cat. Two people in the basement were blocked by the fire but were able to escape through a window. Crews were called back to the scene late Tuesday night, this time focusing on the attic and roof space after the fire reignited. The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
