$600K to Clean Up Building

The city of Waterloo has been presented with a check for more than $600,000 to clean up the former Rath Packing administration building, according to KWWL. The building has sat on Sycamore Street unused for more than 30 years. Many of the windows are boarded up, no trespassing signs are posted, and there is visible rust and water damage inside. The Environmental Protection Agency has awarded the city more than $642,000 to clean up contamination from toxic metals, asbestos, and other contaminants. They believe that would allow for the site to be redeveloped.
