Waterloo Reverses Conversion Therapy Ban

In May the Waterloo City Council voted to ban conversion therapy, they now have voted 4-3 to repeal the ban, according to the Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier. The issue will need to come before the council at least one more time before the ban is repealed. It is unclear what led to the change of heart from the council. A closed session was held on July 25th to “discuss litigation”. The Courier filed a Freedom of Information Act seeking details of that meeting but that was denied. Conversion therapy is the practice of attempting to make someone who is not a heterosexual become heterosexual.
