A Cedar Falls man has been arrested for allegedly stealing items from Menards on nearly 20 occasions, according to the Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier. Cedar Falls Police alleged that 41 year old Ryan Pontasch would purchase some items from the outside yard at Menards. He would then pull his truck and trailer up to the yard and would load up the items he paid for as well as some he did not. When he went through the checkout gate the attendant would scan the ticket but would not confirm the items in the vehicle. Police believe Pontasch did this 18 times between May 8th and August 1st, leaving with more than $3,500 worth of merchandise he did not pay for. He has been charged with one count of second degree Theft. He was released pending trial.
