The occupants of a Cedar Falls home were able to safely escape a fire Monday morning, according to KCRG. Firefighters were called to the home on Viking Road around 5:45. The 911 caller reported flames in the basement and kitchen but by the time crews arrived on scene the house was completely engulfed. Water had to be shuttled to the home because there were no hydrants in the area. The home sustained major fire, smoke and water damage. The Red Cross was called in to assist the residents of the home. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
