A fire inside a trash can is thought to have damaged a home and a detached garage in Waterloo on Sunday morning, according to the Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier. Firefighters were called to 514 and 516 East Second Street around 2:40 a.m. Sunday. The back of the home and the garage sustained exterior damage. Nobody was inside the buildings by the time first responders arrived on scene and no injuries were reported. The cause of the fire remains under investigation at this time.
