Submerged Cars

Recovery crews in Waterloo went into the Cedar River in July with the hopes of recovering a vehicle that had gone into the river in 2021, they actually found three vehicles, none of which were the vehicle they were searching for, according to the Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier. The history of those three vehicles has now been found out. All three had been stolen. Two original owners have passed away and the statute of limitations has expired on all three. The first was a1979 Oldsmobile Delta 88, which was reported stolen by Max Bowers, owner of Bowers Masonry, in 1986. The car had been taken from Bowers’ garage. Randy and Candy McCann reported their prized 1994 Ford Thunderbird missing in 2007 after they each thought the other had it until they both arrived home without it. They suspected their handyman, who had been let go a month prior, of breaking in through the back door and taking the keys, as he knew where they were kept. Finally, a 1985 Chevrolet S10 was reported stolen out of Davenport in 1992. The owner has since passed away. The search for the original vehicle is still ongoing.
