2 Teens Charged in Deadly Crash

Two 17 years olds have been charged with Homicide by Vehicle and Involuntary Manslaughter after a crash over the Memorial Day weekend in Iowa City killed a Waterloo woman, according to KCRG. The teens were allegedly drag racing at speeds at least 25mph over the posted limit when they each entered an intersection and struck the vehicle of 22 year old Jennifer Russell. Russell died from her injuries. The Johnson County Attorney’s Office will seek to waive jurisdiction from juvenile court to Johnson County District Court for both teens. Russell’s family filed a lawsuit against the teens in July.
