House Fire Extinguished

The Waterloo Fire Department put out a fire that erupted in the basement of a home on Dawson Street Wednesday night, according to the Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier. One of the residents of the home came home to find flames coming from the area of the washer and dryer. They called 911 shortly before 8pm. Firefighters were able to quickly put out the fire but the flames damaged the basement and smoke damage was evident all the way up to the attic. The Red Cross was called in to assist the three family members displaced by the fire. No one was injured in the fire and the cause of the fire is still under investigation, although it is not thought to be suspicious.
