A man and his dog are safe after their house caught on fire in Waterloo Wednesday night, according to the Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier. A neighbor across the street noticed smoke billowing from the top of the home around 7:00 p.m. The neighbor rushed over to alert the residents. He rang the doorbell but got no answer until he heard the resident, John Kramer, yell an expletive after realizing his house was on fire. Kramer and his dog, an eight year old German shorthair named Layla, were able to escape the house with no injury. The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
