College Square Cinema in Cedar Falls is closing for good. Members were alerted by the owners, Marcus Theaters, by email yesterday that the last movies shown in the College Square theaters will be on Thursday. The cinema has been a large part of the College Square Mall since it was built in 1970. No specific reason was given as to why it was closing. College Square Mall, like most other malls, has been dying for years, and may have played a role in the closure. Marcus Theaters also operates Crossroads Cinema in Waterloo.
