Waterloo Police are looking for an inmate who escaped from the Waterloo Residential Correctional Facility. 27 year old Shawn Turner did not report back to the facility as required on Saturday. He was imprisoned after entering an Alford Plea to charges of Intimidation With a Dangerous Weapon and Willful Injury in Dubuque County in November of 2022 for an incident in 2020. Turner blamed the incident on him being drunk at the time. He initially took a plea deal that suggested he only receive probation but the judge said she would not be held by that suggestion. He was ultimately sentenced to 10 years in prison. Turner was admitted to the work release facility this past November. He is described as a black male standing five feet ten inches tall and weighing 150 pounds. Anyone with information on his whereabouts should countact Waterloo Police.
