The Cedar River in Waverly is expected to crest at around 14 feet Tuesday morning at 7:00. The City has closed 4th Street SE, 7th Avenue SE,, Crestwood, and 8th Street SE. The river crested yesterday morning in Charles City at 21.57 feet and cut the town in half, severely limiting travel from one side of town to the other. The river is expected to crest at 14.3 feet Tuesday afternoon around 1 in Janesville. Wartburg is offering their residence halls to those affected by flood waters at no cost. Cedar Falls is also preparing for the some minor flooding. The river there is expected to crest at 92.9 feet at 1:00 am Wednesday. At that point Tourist Park and Island Park will be flooded and there will be water in the southeast corner of Gateway Park. Riverside Drive south of Beech Street will be covered. Portions of Lake Street, Ford Road south of Fitkin Road, Roosevelt, Beech, Grant Street at Horty Street, and Lincoln Street west of Independence Avenue may also be covered. The public should avoid flood waters.
