A.G. Says Police Were Justified in Killing

The Iowa Attorney General’s Office has concluded that the shooting and killing of a man by Waterloo Police in March was justified, according to KWWL. John Piazza had gone to a hospital earlier that day seeking help for anxiety. He left the hospital saying he wanted to kill something. Later, he went to Kuennen’s Automotive Clinic and demanded to see the owner, however he was not on site. Piazza fired a gun inside the shop before leaving. Employees called police. When they arrived on scene Piazza had returned with a shotgun. Piazza allegedly aimed the shotgun out of the shop window at an officer. Another officer fired a single shot, hitting Piazza in the head and killing him.
