Mississippi Man Who Stabbed Girlfriend & Killed a Man Caught in Waterloo

A Mississippi man who fled the state while on parole for Manslaughter was arrested in Waterloo on Monday after stabbing his girlfriend while she slept, according to the Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier. 43 year old Ladrick Benford of Mount Olive, Mississippi has been charged with Willful Injury Causing Serious Injury. Police say he began punching his girlfriend while she slept around 3:30 a.m. Monday. He then allegedly stabbed her in the left arm and abdomen before dragging her down a flight of stairs. Benford then fled the scene. Police recovered the knife allegedly used in the attack and a credit card belonging to Benford in the bedroom. The woman was taken to the hospital for treatment of injuries not thought to be life threatening. Benford had been incarcerated after shooting at a passing vehicle in Mississippi in 2010. He killed a 27 year old man in the shooting. He was sentenced to 35 years in prison but was placed on parole, at which point he absconded.
