A fisherman had to be rescued from the Cedar River in Waterloo Thursday afternoon, according to the Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier. The man, who has not been named to this point, was fishing from a wooden platform under the Park Avenue Bridge when he fell into the water. He clung to the platform just above the inflatable dam for about an hour before someone heard his cries for help. Waterloo Fire Rescue used ropes to keep him along the west-side shore. A rescue boat was launched from Exchange Park. They were able to pull the man to safety. He was taken to the hospital for treatment.
