Fire at Senior Living Center was Intentionally Set

A fire at a senior living center in Waterloo last week was intentionally set, according to the Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier. A Waterloo Fire Rescue ambulance was already at the Camelot Apartments for another matter last Thursday when residents began calling 911 to report smoke in the hallway. Eventually flames were spotted coming from a third floor apartment. Residents were quickly evacuated while firefighters battled the blaze. Two people were taken to the hospital for treatment of possible smoke inhalation. City Fire Marshal Brock Weliver says they are working with the Waterloo Police Department and County Attorney’s Office to press charges. No suspects have been named to this point.
