A Marion man has been arrested after he allegedly broke into several vehicles in Cedar Falls and stole multiple items, including one with an AirTag, which led police to the stolen items, according to the Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier. Police say 31 year old Jacob Swails broke into parked cars at Gold Falls Villa Apartments and the Quarters Apartments on the night of October 29th into the 30th. He allegedly stole laptops, $300 in cash, a backpack containing pickleball equipment, a backpack containing disc golf equipment, basketball shoes, $20 worth of quarters, and school work. One of the items contained an AirTag, which police followed to a home in Waterloo. They stopped Swails’ vehicle in the area and found most of the missing items in the back seat. They also found a glass pipe and a bag of methamphetamine. Swails has been charged with second degree Theft, multiple counts of Burglary to a Vehicle, and Possession of Methamphetamine.
