Private Schools Grow Due to State Program

The Department of Education released its 2024 certified enrollment numbers for public school districts, accredited nonpublic schools, and participation numbers in the Student First Education Savings Account program, according to KCRG. The total enrollment in public schools dropped by just over 3,000 students. A nearly identical number was added to Iowa accredited nonpublic schools. Nearly 28,000 of the more than 39,000 nonpublic students used the Education Savings Account program. More than 43,000 students open enrolled in a public school that is outside of their home district. These numbers will be used to determine public school funding for the 2025-26 school year.
