Waterloo Schools has set a timeline for their new combined high school, according to the Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier. By the end of Winter they plan to complete construction documents, begin planning for Hall of Pride and performing arts center projects, launch campaign for school colors and mascot an begin discussion for new school boundaries. In the Spring they plan to complete project bidding and begin construction with a groundbreaking ceremony. In the Fall they will reveal the mascot and school colors and begin school boundary changes. In the Winter they will finalize Hall of Pride design and discuss high school programming. In Spring of 2027 they will select high school administrators. In the Summer of 2027 they will decide the occupancy of new commons, kitchen, and gym and will begin selection of employees. In the Winter of 2027 they will complete high school program discussions. In the Spring of 2028 they will finalize selection of employees. In the Summer of 2028 they will complete constuction, install furniture and equipment, allow employee access to classrooms and begin tours. Finally, in the Fall of 2028 the school will open. The new high school will be on the same campus as the Waterloo Career Center and will house all Sophomores through Seniors. The old high schools will house 8th and 9th graders.
