Kurtenbach Wins Election

Democrat Ritchie Kurtenbach has been elected to the Black Hawk County Board of Supervisors after a special election yesterday. Kurtenbach received 53% of the vote to easily defeat Republican Jim Brown and Independent Cliff Berinobis who received 23% and 20% of the vote, respectively. Nearly 5,500 voters cast ballots out of more than 80,000 registered voters in the county for a turnout of just below 7%. Kurtenbach takes over for Dan Trelka, who resigned his position to take the Chief of Police role in Leadville, Colorado in November.
