A Raymond man has been sentenced to prison for breaking his infant son’s leg, according to the Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier. 23 year old Ja Leel Stalling took a plea deal that saw him plead guilty to Child Endangerment Causing Bodily Injury instead of his original charge of Child Endangerment Causing Serious Injury. The mother took the baby to the hospital in February of 2023 after discovering the child’s leg swollen. Doctors found a broken femur with a spiral fracture. The mother told police that the baby’s father, Stalling, had changed a diaper in the middle of the night prior. She later found a shredded diaper on the bedroom floor. Stalling admitted he shredded the diaper because he was angry but denied hurting the baby. The baby had been hospitalized with a black eye just days prior. Stalling has now been sentenced to up to five years in prison.
