Sumner Man Pleads Guilty

A Sumner man pleaded guilty to ‘unlawfully disposing of the City of New Hampton’s sewage sludge.’

During the plea hearing in federal court Wednesday, James Warnke, 64, admitted to dumping domestic sewage from the City of New Hampton Wastewater Treatment Plant in a field, violating regulations governing the disposal of sewage sludge.

The judge has not set a date for sentencing.

Warnke faces up to 3 years in prison and numerous fines.
