Since Friday, September 5th the Red Light Cameras in Waverly have begun issuing $100 civil fines. The fines do not go on your record unlike those issued via a physical stop by an officer and the fines are about $160 cheaper.
Before the citation period began the cameras gave out warnings for 30 days.
Waverly Police Captain Cory Stephens said he was shocked at how many warnings were issued in the month.
Stephens said an additonal over 200 red light camera citations were rejected by the supervising officers.
