More Deere Layoffs

John Deere has announced even more layoffs. 101 employees at the Waterloo Operations facility will lose their jobs on October 17th. A further 40 employees are being laid off at the Des Moines Works facility on Halloween. The company is again citing decreased demand and lower order volumes for their decision. John Deere has been mired in a string of layoffs now for several years. John Deere CEO, John C. May, made nearly $27 million last year. Meanwhile the company laid off 1,600 employees just in Iowa in 2024, and nearly 1,000 more will be laid off by Halloween this year.
