Convenience Store Employee Arrested

A Waterloo convenience store employee has been accused of locking up in the middle of her shift and stealing the money in the safe, according to the Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier. 55 year old Michelle Smalley was arrested on Thursday and charged with second degree Theft. Police say she was working at the Prime Mart on Marigold Drive on December 2nd when she allegedly collected the money in the safe, locked up the store, and left the store just before 4pm, in the middle of her shift. Police say she walked out of the store with nearly $1,600. She has been released pending trial.
