A Waterloo man has been arrested for allegedly abusing his four year old child, according to the Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier. 33 year old Jacob Bottema is accused of hitting his son in the face on Friday. The following day police noticed bruising and swelling on the child’s face and around his eye. Bottema told police he hit the child because of behavioral issues and may have accidentally scratched him with a fingernail. He has been charged with Child Endangerment Causing Bodily Injury. He is being held on a $10,000 bond.
