YouTuber Sues Wrestling Coach’s Wife

The UNI wrestling coach’s wife has been sued by a wrestling YouTuber for comments she allegedly made online, according to the Iowa Capital Dispatch. Nima Gharavi runs a YouTube page called Midwest Wrestle, which has more than 180,000 subscribers which features videos of youth wrestling matches, many of which have received more than 1Million views. In the lawsuit Gharavi accuses Allyson Schwab, wife of UNI Wrestling Head Coach Doug Schwab, of suggesting online that he had uploaded his wrestling videos to porn sites. Gharavi says while some of his videos were posted to those sites, it was done by someone else and once he found out he says he submitted hundreds of formal “take-down requests” and served 11 subpoenas seeking information on who had allegedly pirated his videos. After Schwab made her post Gharavi says he was ejected from the Midlands Championships by Northwestern Wrestling Coach Matt Storniolo. In the months following Gharavi alleges that several athletic organizations canceled or declined to renew their contracts with him and he was doxxed, after which he was allegedly the victim of threats and an attempted break-in. The lawsuit seeks unspecified damages for defamation, invasion of privacy by painting Gharavi in a false light, intentional infliction of emotional distress and tortious interference with business relationships.
