Plainfield Man in High Speed Chase

A Plainfield man was arrested after leading police on a high speed chase early Monday morning, according to the Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier. A Hudson police officer attempted to pull over a Cadillac driven by 35 year old Andrew Engler for a license plate issue shortly after midnight. Engler allegedly refused to pull over and led police on a chase reaching speeds of 110mph. The chase would ultimately end in Jesup in the front yard of a home. Engler tried to flee on foot but was quickly captured. Police found bolt cutters, grinders, and keys in the vehicle. Engler has been charged with Eluding, Driving While Barred, Possession of Burglary Tools, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. He has a previous conviction from March 2021 in which he led police from Janesville into Butler County on a chase that reached speeds over 100 mph. He is also on probation after Butler County authorities found meth and a stolen .45 caliber handgun during a traffic stop in August of 2019.
