The Recycling Center in Waverly is closed Friday due to the forecasted temperatures. They will be open again Saturday for their regular hours, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
The City of Nashua is asking citizens who plan to allow a trickle of water to run through their faucet to let the city know first. Allowing a small stream of water to run through faucets helps to prevent pipes from freezing.
The City of Waterloo is providing warming stations for residents experiencing homelessness or those in need of warmth as temperatures and wind chills will be dangerously low Friday and through the weekend. There will be an overnight warming center at 1022 W. 5th Street. It will be open from 8:00 p.m. to 7;00 a.m. Those staying overnight will also be allowed to remain during daytime hours Friday. The Waterloo Public Library will be open during regular business hours, the Hospitality House will be open from 9;00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Friday, and the Salvation Army also will provide additional support and shelter services. Donations can be made to the Hospitality House through their Facebook page or mailed to them and donations to the Salvation Army can be made on their website.
