An Ackley man has been arrested after allegedly abandoning a child at the scene of a crash on Tuesday night. The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office was called to the scene near Geneva at around 10:40pm. They discovered a vehicle had run off the roadway. The driver, later determined to be 35 year old Andrew Havens, had walked away from the scene, leaving a minor child in the vehicle. Havens was later found walking in a nearby field. He has been charged with Operating While Intoxicated, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Open Container, Child Endangerment, and Leaving the Scene of an Accident. He has been released on his own recognizance.
