Underwear Bandit Sentenced to Prison

A Waterloo man who took the underwear off of a sleeping 16 year old girl has been sentenced, according to the Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier. 27 year old Thomas Connor was convicted of first degree Theft and has now been sentenced to up to 10 years in prison. Connor removed the girl’s underwear and placed them in his safe. The next morning, when his stepfather confronted him about the underwear, Connor tried to throw the safe onto the roof. He later opened the safe and revealed the underwear to his parents but claimed he bought it. At trial, his defense did not dispute that Connor had taken the underwear but claimed he had taken them off the ground, which would have been a misdemeanor. The judge in the bench trial did not buy it, however. Connor was already on probation for breaking into a female co-worker’s apartment in July of 2023 and going through her underwear drawer and leaving a note meant to cause her to become upset with her boyfriend. He avoided being force to register as a sex offender because the judge in that case decided the crime was not sexually motivated.
