A former preschool teacher from Grundy Center has been arrested for allegedly sexually exploiting a child, according to the Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier. 38 year old Brandon Baker lived in an apartment across from the Grundy County Courthouse from January 2012 to September of 2016. He then moved to Telluride, Colorado and began working at a preschool there. In April of 2024 Colorado authorities received a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children that child sex abuse material had been flagged on Baker’s Adobe account. A search of Baker’s home found an SD card that allegedly contained images of a nude, prepubescent boy in handcuffs in Baker’s Grundy Center home in November of 2013. The Telluride Marshal’s Department notified the parents of Baker’s students of the findings but did not press charges because “there is no evidence indicating that child sexual abuse or child molestation are immediate concerns.” Baker then moved to Port Royal, South Carolina and began working at a preschool there. On January 27th South Carolina authorities arrested him and on the 30th he was charged with Sexual Exploitation of a Child as part of an investigation by Homeland Security.
