Woman Arrested for Selling Stolen Phone

A Waterloo woman has been arrested for allegedly selling a stolen phone to an automated kiosk, according to the Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier. Police say a man had his iPhone 16 Pro Max stolen from the Isle Casino on December 27th. He was able to track his phone to a Dollar General store, which has an ecoATM kiosk at the entrance. EcoATMs allow people to make money when they recycle their old phones and other electronic devices. The stolen phone was recovered from the kiosk and returned to the victim. Police used photos of the transaction and the ID card the seller is required to show to identify the suspect. 45 year old Joan Johnson was then taken into custody and charged with second degree Theft. Her bond was set at $5,000.
