A crash on the edge of New Hartford injured two teenage sisters Wednesday morning. A 15 year old girl from Parkersburg was attempting to get onto T55 from Highway 57 when her vehicle was struck by a semi traveling west on Highway 57. The 15 year old was taken to Allen Hospital in Waterloo for treatment of her injuries while her 14 year old sister was flown to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City. Both were wearing their seatbelts and the Iowa State Patrol says that saved their lives. The driver of the semi, 63 year old Michael Heideman of Grundy Center, was not injured in the crash. The accident remains under investigation at this time.
