College Square Mall Bought Locally

A Cedar Falls businessman has purchased College Square Mall with plans to make it more locally focused, according to the Cedar Falls News Hub. Jon Davis, owner of Slumberland, recently completed the transfer of ownership. The name of the mall will change slightly to The Mall at College Square. Concrete plans for the currently empty store spaces have not yet been made but Davis is considering several options including pop-up stores with three or six month leases, educational institutions opening entrepreneurial labs where students can learn and practice, connect with food trucks to fill the existing kitchen spots and rotate some of the food choices, and turning the former movie theater into an entertainment center. There is an ice cream shop that will soon be moving into the old Baskin Robbins location. Davis says they also plan to expand the walking hours.
