Former Officer Pleads Guilty to Vehicular Homicide

A former Waterloo police officer has pleaded guilty to killing his girlfriend in a motorcycle crash in 2024, according to the Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier. 35 year old Keaton Northup took a plea deal mid-trial that saw him plead guilty to Vehicular Homicide by Reckless Driving and first offense OWI instead of the more serious charge of Vehicular Homicide While Intoxicated. Northup and his girlfriend, Jenna Mills, visited multiple bars where Northup became drunk. He then drove his motorcycle at speeds in excess of 100mph in a 45mph zone before crashing and killing Mills. Northup faces up to 11 years in prison when he is sentenced at a later date.
