A Waterloo woman has been sentenced to life in prison after killing her own mother in 2023, according to KWWL. Sarah Brown was convicted of first degree Murder in February. Brown and her mother, Roberta Nagy, got into a physical altercation at around 8:00 p.m. on May 21st of 2023. Brown stabbed Nagy several times in the neck and then strangled her with a phone charging cord. Brown argued that Nagy had stabbed herself in the neck and strangled herself with the cord. During sentencing the judge acknowledged Brown had a horrific childhood but that he was required to sentence her to life in prison without the possibility of parole. Brown says she is asking for a new trial because the jury did not receive what she calls relevant info and facts.
