A woman that led a trip through Peru with a group from Crawdaddy Outdoors last year has passed away in an avalanche. Shelley Johannesen of DASH Adventures was descending Makalu, the worlds 5th highest mountain, when she was caught in the avalanche. Her partner, David Ashley, was also caught in the avalanche. He survived but was taken to a hospital to recover. Johannesen is the second person this season to die on Makalu, which is in the Himalayan Mountains in Nepal. The other person, a Czech climber, died from altitude sickness.
