A Marshall County man has been arrested for allegedly traveling to Evansdale with the intent to have sex with a teen, according to the Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier. 46 year old Shane Wallander was arrested after arriving at a gas station in Evansdale. He had been texting with someone he thought was a 15 year old. Wallander allegedly offered money for nude photos and videos of the teen. He has been charged with Enticing a Minor for Sex and Grooming. He is on parole after being convicted of Lascivious Acts With a Child in Polk County. In that case he had sexual contact with an 11 year old boy in 2014. In 2021, authorities tried to have him committed for treatment of antisocial personality disorder and pedophilic disorder. The judge declined to have Wallander committed, however, because experts could not agree he suffered from pedophilic disorder or if he had a mental abnormality that would make him more likely than not to commit a sexually violent offense.
