Arrest of Man Who Hit Utility Poles

The driver of a vehicle that took out two utility poles in a crash in Waterloo on Sunday night has been arrested, according to the Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier. 23 year old Travon Reed has been charged with first offense OWI, Failure to Maintain Control, and Failure to Have Insurance. Reed was allegedly driving a Volkswagen Taos north on West Fourth Street at around 7:20 p.m. when he crashed into a parked Chevy Silverado, veered into a lawn and struck a utility pole, which then damaged a second utility pole. The Taos then rolled, struck a tree, and the engine was ejected from the vehicle. Police say Reed smelled of alcohol and was slurring his speech.
